Red Rock Winery Malbec

Malbec

Our Red Rock Mendoza Malbec exhibits the hallmarks of Argentine Malbec, with its subtle spicy and floral notes. Flavors of dark fruit create an underlying jamminess, giving this wine a mouth-filling texture that extends into a smooth, fruit-driven finish.

Viticulture Notes

The 2013 vintage in Mendoza began with a cooler growing season that led to in wines with heightened acidity, lower sugar levels and intense aromatics. Harvest was delayed about a week due to the cooler weather, and as a result, the yields in Mendoza were up for the first time in three years. With excellent acidity and tannins, the wines of 2013 produced from Mendoza grapes will offer an enjoyable taste now or after years of aging.

Winemaker Notes

The grapes for our Mendoza Malbec were hand-selected before destemming and crushing. Fermentation occurred in upright conical tanks for one week at a maximum temperature of 83°F. To encourage optimal color and flavor extraction, the grapes were left in contact with the skins for up to 15 days, and frequent pump-overs were employed. Following primary fermentation, all lots completed malolactic fermentation to soften the mouthfeel and create a more robust texture.
