Winemaker's Blend
Our Red Rock Winemaker’s Blend combines the structure of Petite Sirah, the bright red fruit characteristics of Zinfandel and the juicy, round mouthfeel of Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark plum, boysenberry and blueberry aromas and flavors are complemented by intriguing toffee notes.
Viticulture Notes
In 2013, we selected the grapes for our Winemaker’s Blend from select California regions ideally suited to grow each variety. The vintage started early in California, where a long, moderate growing season created ideal conditions for ripeness and flavor development. As the season developed, desirable dry conditions and balanced weather allowed for outstanding maturation and the evolution of layered complexity in fruit on the vine. Following a mild harvest, our wines have shown impressive depth and balance with concentrated ripe fruit flavors.
Winemaker Notes
The grapes were harvested at night and early in the morning in order to preserve their natural fruit characteristics. After destemming, the must fermented in a combination of upright, rotary and conesweep tanks for up to six days at a maximum temperature of 88°F. The Petite Sirah lent structure and depth to the blend, while Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon added juicy character and flavor, complexity and smoothness to the final wine.
